| Other comments | I’m a management consultant, nowadays mainly in national-level environmental and primary industry fields. My core business is developing strategic plans and policies, so I work with long documents that continually move between Macs and PCs. Anything that saves time or increases efficiency — I’m interested in it! I gained much of my advanced knowledge of Word from the friendly volunteers at microsoft.public.mac.office.word. After a while, I tentatively contributed by answering some posts, and found that helping to solve other people’s problems had me looking at Word’s idiosyncrasies from a different angle and extending my knowledge further. Since accepting an invitation to become an MVP in 2004 I’ve discovered what a friendly bunch of people the MVPs are, so I very much enjoy being involved as far as my busy schedule allows. And beyond that, I think we all benefit from spreading cooperation and small kindnesses around the world. As to my idiosyncrasies, I have lots! The Word ones are even downloadable (http://word.mvps.org/Mac/Bend/BendWordToYourWill.html). In my spare time, the theory is that I regain my sanity in a friend’s machine shop, tinkering with my half-ton steam locomotive. But lately my wife and I have been in training as grandparents. So much for sanity! |
